Droga na Key West / Driving to Key West

Key West to wyspa najdalej wysunięta na zachód z całego archipelagu Florida Keys. Zasadniczo dalej jest jeszcze Dry Tortugas, ale tam już nie dochodzi droga. Czy też raczej powieniem powiedzieć most, bo odniosłem wrażenie, że na drodze łączącej Key West z Key Largo więcej jest mostu niż drogi.

Key West to też nazwa mieściny, która się na wyspie znajduje. Mieściny o tyle dziwacznej, że tchnącej wiecznym imprezowaniem i latynowskim "siempre mañana" (dla niezorientowanych: "siempre mañana" dosłownie "zawsze jest jutro", w praktyce oznacza bardzo luzackie podejście do życia).

Trochę ciężko jest sobie wyobrazić tutaj lato i te okropne upały, skoro w grudniu zasadniczo można się spokojnie kąpać, a święta to np. kukła Św. Mikołaja wylegująca się na hamaku przez domem, czy też ozdoby choinkowe wywieszone na palmach.

Key West is one of the Florida Keys, located furtermost West. Actually, there is Dry Tortugas even furthermost, but there is no road, or actually no bridge, as I believe most of the road from Key Largo to Key West is actually a bridge.

Key West is also a name of the city on the island. Teh city itself is rather unusual, as it seems to be a place of neverending party and latino "siempre mañana" attitude.

It was very hard for us to imagine a summer here with its horrible heat, if you can easily go swimming in December, while for Xmas they decorate the houses with a dummy Santa on the hammock and palms are treated as Xmas tree.



Woda miała klasyczny kolor. Szkoda, że przez kiepską pogodę nie widać tego morskiego seledynku. / The colour of water was classic. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best to present it.
